todays find & another valentine

What a fun find today! We went to this estate sale, got there 2 1/2 hrs after it opened and we STILL had to wait in line. It was PACKED.....with stuff & people. This lady was a pack rat to say the least. Seriously...they could have started a yarn shop from all the yarn....huge boxes in every room. I just love sales like this where you have to dig. Well on our way out I looked up in the kitchen and there hanging above the sink were these 2 adorable pink and white safety pin baskets....the price....$1.00 for both! Well...I have never seen a little one like this. It is 3" from bottom to the top of the handle......just so darling and these little flowers in it too. Oh, I got this wonderful bed of white mother of pearl buttons there too.......my gosh...I have never seen so many vintage buttons either in one place. What a fun sale!


Here's another valentine that I made. I had this little angel in my vintage button box. I love the sepia look to this photo. I'm still playing with my new camera........I love it!

Valentines.

I knew I wanted to make something for Valentines Day and then I saw these that Heather Bullard made and gave them a try. I just love how they turned out. I decided to use glitter around the edge instead of antiquing it and love the vintage lace as the bow.

I was playing with my new camera and textures........I HAD to get some of these Valentine treats today while at the store....LOL!!!! So I may as well capture them on my chippy table before I eat them! LOL!!

I just Love the subtle swirls and wording on this texture....I took a close up photo of a rose from my garden last summer and added a texture......I am having fun with these textures.

New Textures

I have been playing with textures today......this is really fun......keep watching for more.

Missing my garden...

Oh, it's about this time every year that I start to really miss my garden. Here is a close up of one of my roses. I think that's why all the garden seed and nursery catalogs start coming about now......they know us gardeners and how we long to dig in the dirt ~ plant new things ~ smell the beautiful roses ~ watch the butterflies flutter and the birds take a refreshing bath. Oh spring can't come soon enough.......this has already been a snowy and C*O*L*D winter. For now......I'll just enjoy the pics of my pretty roses......

2009!

2009.......what will it bring? After putting away the Christmas decorations every year....I like to change a few things up. What a perfect time......you have a clean slate. Here are a few changes I made. The boys gave me this gorgeous vase for Christmas, and I had the millinery flowers and vintage books......why not marry them together?

I have accumulated alot of vintage tarnished silver........just love it! I found this top to an old heater at a flea market and have been adding things to it......I added the white ribbon and roses and a little rhinestone bling. One way to reuse old junk.....and pretty finds combined.

It will be an interesting year. At work, things have slowed waaaaaaaaaay up and 3/4 of our dept is being farmed out to other depts. I am staying put and doing 2 different jobs. Everyone is worried and nervous. When the boss told us........at the end of my birthday celebration....great timing! LOL! this verse kept running through my head .......

The gal that sits next to me, we have tried to remain positive while some others are freaking out. She always says.......It's not raining yet. Once on a way to a meeting, there was a chance of rain. She kept saying to the person who was driving..........oh, I don't want to get wet, my hair will be all wet, my clothes will be wet and I don't want to go to the meeting looking like that. After carrying on and on.......the other person hollered out....

IT'S NOT RAINING YET! And besides......I will drop you off at the door. So every morning we say good morning and reassure each other.....It's not raining yet!

EXCITING NEWS!

Our youngest son proposed to his girlfriend last night... They do that geocaching where you find the coordinates and go search for things and there is a prize in the box when you find it.

So he had her start and go to the park across from his old apt.....then he just sent her to her apt for 3 more since it was so darn cold, then he ended at his apt.......rose petals all up the steps and 90 candles lit and he was in his tuxedo waiting for her......

We are sooo excited she is such a great gal!

Everyone have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We are off to celebrate Christmas on my husbands side today!
